Thanks for the Diggs everyone and I agree, I got lots of exposure (even if it's not to my site) from this pic. Well worth the time that was put in.

Lol one thing - if there was lightning about I wouldnt be standing under a huge electricity pylon

 

I was in a truck, grounded and those lines were farther away than they look

Lightning is T&E for sure (Trial and error).

The best way is to use a long exposure. Depending on the frequency of the strikes, I'll usually use 20-30 seconds per picture.
