    Hi

I couldnt find a specific hosting forum, so i home its ok to post here.

What is the best US hosting ?
Price does not matter - i just need to know which is the best US hosting for quality shared servers and little down time with good customer services.

are there any around which charge more then most but provide a better quality of hosting

    Thanks,

Well, I recently joined the DuoHub affiliate program (see my sig), they are a fairly new host but so far I have had a great experience. Whenever I have any questions I get replies within 10 minutes.

Another very reputable host is HostGator, a lot of members of this forum use their services and have great things to say about them. Although it is a bit more expensive you will probably be very pleased with their service.

See my sig (Thunderhost) for a really good host I run. Excellent uptime, good prices and over 150 satisfied clients so far.

as an impartial person who isnt flying any sigs, i think 1and1 is cheap for what u get.

unless u need dedicated, then its a whole other ballpark :D

After trying varous hosts for a few years I decided that none are better than me - so I got a dedicated server for myself and have not looked back.

It is hard to say what is 'best' because different people have different needs and expectations. Most web hosts just want to maximize the experience for their general audience and that may or may not meet your needs. With prices falling, some may oversell their services to an unacceptable level.

Like RRWH said, if you want the best experience, nothing beats doing everything yourself. If you ain't satisfied, you only have yourself to blame. I've given up on the shortcomings of virtual hosting and got my own dedicated servers and it is working out for me.

Of course, it is not something that one should just plunge in without the necessary expertises needed in managing one.

I highly recommend staying FAR away from 1and1. I've used them and they have horrible customer service and products. There are millions of bad reviews about them as well. STAY CLEAR.

I love www.hostgator.com. They're not the cheapest, but you get great control over everything, problems are extremely rare (at least they have been for me for almost the last 2 years) and if there does happen to be an issue, their support team is very easy to reach, and they'll take care of you right away. I've seen cheaper ones, but I wouldn't even consider leaving hostgator.

I run a hosting company and I'm not even going to recommend myself :)

If you want the absolute best shared hosting you are going to have to pay for it, www.pair.com. They are far and away the best all around shared hosting provider.

There is also www.mosso.com run out of the RackSpace datacenter, setup by a couple of RackSpace employees.

If you have a specific need with your hosting (support for a certain web app), then there may be a different answer.

Since price does't matter, I would recomand Rochenhosting or cartikahosting or dotable.
