I really think my font choice is hindering my design. I am currently using trebucket and verdana for my sidebar fonts, and they just aren't doing it for me. I want my sidebar to be flashy like, for example, Blogussion Any ideas? Web Journey
On the site you linked to there, they seam to use mostly large, all-caps, sans-serif fonts. It also looks like they threw a large slab-serif font in there (like Rockwell). Those large thick letters really stand out. There color choices were very eminent too. It wasn't just plain, even sized, black Verdana. Just experiment until you find something you think looks good. Also, note that their buttons are mostly images, that way the reader doesn't have to have a computer equipped with those fonts. I prefer classic serif fonts like Palatino or Garamond, but that is obviously not what you're looking for. This (smashingmagazine.com/2007/08/08/80-beautiful-fonts-typefaces-for-professional-design/) is a site with all of the most famous professional fonts, but they can be quite pricey sometimes. Here (listropolis.com/2009/03/20-best-free-professional-fonts/) are some free ones. You can often find a free version of a font that is obviously strongly influenced by a professional counterpart.
