Some confusion about IPs and DP accounts.

Hope some mod will clear me this doubt.

I am staying in an university hostel and we are taking one broadband internet connection (one telephone line) among 8 people (i.e 8 rooms with a computer each). All the computer have different local IPs. But when I check the IPs in all the computers using whatismyip.com, it showed the same IP.

I just want to know if there will be any issue of multiple account if one of friend signs up from these computers.

Infact they want to sign up. But if they sign up, I will always make sure that they never post in my thread or vice versa.
Hoping that some mod will clear my confusion.

    Thanks,
    bnts

I just want to know if there is any possibility for my friends becoming a member of DP. Because I cannot ask them not to sign up as they will mind if I do that...:(

Duplicate accounts are not allowed per person, not per IP address, so they could join.

why is there any need for all the friends to post in the single thread?

If the different accounts are not related to each other then i guess they are allowed, relation means promoting each other, promoting each others services, giving false feeback, thats the reason multiple accounts are not allowed.

I don't think there will ever be a need for friends staying together to post in each other threads...that's simply meaningless lol...what they can discuss in the forum, they can discuss better sitting together... neither will they ever require to buy anything from each other online...will they?

it's not possible/practical in 99% of cases to track down the MAC address of a user.

MAC addresses are more for LANs than over the net.
