I have redesigned my forum index page and a few other bits.
Just need some feedback

e.g
first impressions
Is it clear how it works
Etc.

I like the category buttons on the front page and the way they redirect. It also looks simple if this is how you meant to be. I'd add more shocking stuff like latest posts or most viewed posts somewhere. I'd change the color of the forum to make it look less phpbb. I'd put only image or video ads instead of the adsense link ones. I think you could use some hints from softpedia.com/forum but don't take it personal, you captured my attention.
