Some blogs take the first part of my entries and post them. at the end there is a read more link. They don't send me any visitors. But all these links are not nofollow. And as my posts are rather longish, i'm not too afraid of dublicate content. I feel I should not ask them to stop. But I'd like to hear Your opinion on this.
Hi There - Bad: they are using your work to pull traffic to their site and earn money off of it. This not only robs money from you (you are the copyright owner of your material), but also potential traffic to your site. What to do (open to brainstorms here): Place copyright notice in all articles, and that RSS feeds are not to be used for commercial purposes. Use domain tools to block domains in question Send a series of cease letters: Email request Registered letter request (look up domain owner) Report to ISP Letter from lawyer After the series in #3, take them to small claims court (maybe larger settlement in regular court, but this is less expensive, since you can do it yourself). What say you? - Scott
Thanks for the comments so far. I haven't thought about this robbery of potential traffic thing so far. I will put more thought on this and decide later what to do. I'm not sure what to think. Everyone is super happy when another person posts about Your blog. This is also called review or something like that. Like I said my posts are long in most cases and these guys only repost the first 10% of my stuff. The question that has to be answered is: Will google penalize me for copied content or not. If not, I could just think these guys are reviewing me. If google penalizes me, then immediate action has to be done.
But you said there was a 'read more' button? It sounds like the rest of the post is there, just shortened for a neater page.
Yes... They are plundering your money. They'll get nice clicks, if they're using an expired domain with good PR...
