Hello SEO Experts out here. I am new to Blogging and have created a Tech blog around 3 months back. Its PR1 now and under 4 lacs in Alexa. I am a novice in SEO, so I have some basic doubts that you guys can clarify. 1. I have seen some of the similar sites having less number of posts than me.... almost same content.. The only major difference I could find out was Age of the site.. mine is 3 months and other one was almost 1.5 yrs old. My question is that Age of site really matter a lot in ranking and page views ? 2. Usually I publish 2 posts a day on my blog and constantly update it. Is it good for search engine trust that the site is regularly updated and in the next update I can expect PR2 ? 3. I know that Google PR has nothing to do with traffic but Alexa is somewhat related to traffic stats. Currently i am posting 2-3 articles a day. Will it be a better strategy to just post 1 article a day and keep rest in draft and once I get PR2 and good alexa rank + old site trust, then publish them ? or age of the article also plays a role in high search engine ranking. 4. In 3 months, I have 230 posts and 500+ google visitors daily with 1000+ page views. Do you think I am doing good progress ? 5. If anybody can look my Gadgets site and suggest me some ways to do SEO for the posts or anything that I am missing, I would be grateful for that. 6. Submitting blog to blogs directory like blogcatalogue really help in getting good rank ? I have submitted my site to ten of them yesterday to see any effect in near term. Please help me with suggestions and feedback. I have learnt a lot from DP fellow members and enlighten me with your knowledge. Thanks, Pankaj
1. The age does matter. Old is good. Also make a quick search on this forum for a phrase "google sandbox". 2. Yes, it is good. Regular updates increase the trust rank. 3. As long as you post articles - somebody might read them and link to them. If no articles are posted - no readers, no links. No links - no PR2. Though the PageRank is not the goal by itself, it is merely a rank. Don't bother to much about it, concentrate on sales. 4. Sounds good for me. 5. I have nothing to say. There is a small glitch at the left sidebar in IE and the whole site needs a proofreading, but from SEO point it seems ok for me. 6. Not too much, actually.
1. Age of website is one of the factors in Ranking. However there are 200 other factors that Google take into account while ranking a website. 2. Blogs that get constantly updated with unique content are always good in Google's point of view as well as for visitors credibility. 3. Alexa shows the traffic estimation, but its not that much reliable. If you are OK with writing unique 2-3 articles per day, than post it on your blog. Otherwise you may divide your time in promoting your blog and writing posts. Promotion is necessary. 4. According to the status you are doing good. 5. Your blog looks good. You can use some good Wordpress plugins like "All in One SEO pack" etc. to optimize your blog. 6. Submitting blog to blog directories is really helpful. You will get found by other bloggers and if they like your blog they will give backlink to your blog which ultimately increases rankings. In blogging, building trust is more important. Hope it will help.
