Some affiliate marketing questions from a newbie

Hi,

I am thinking of going into the world of affiliate marketing and I have a few questions. These are general questions but may be related to CJ also.

1. How exactly does it work? I mean let's say I want to sell jewelery online. I go to CJ and find a suitable company, then I setup a website and sell their jewelery and earn commission. Is that it!?

2. Will the company have problem if I don't use their own banners and instead I design my own banners and graphics?

3. Can I use single website to sell products of multiple companies like say I create some kind of shopping website where I display products from different companies, is it allowed?
