Hi, I am trying to achieve a page one position for the term "web design in blackpool" on Google UK. As far as i can see my site has everything correct and in place. If you search for the term you will see the current page one holders. All i can make that is making a difference is the age of the websites that are currently on there as my site is only 2 years old but a lot more optimised than these. My address is www(dot)ingroupmedia(dot)co(dot)uk Normally i don't have a problem achieving page one positions for my clients but this is proving a bit more difficult. Cheers, Adam
people talk a lot of tosh about getting banned from google for having too many backlinks- but xrumer is certainly an easy way to get a penalty
You need to fix your canonicalisation. Ie, you have four potential homepages: http://www.domain.co.uk/index.php http://domain.co.uk/index.php http://www.domain.co.uk/ http://domain.co.uk/
the 301 redirect on the home page as mentioned above and maybe submitting to some of the paid inclusion directories. also, i only ran 1,000 of your back-links and you may want to use the "web design in blackpool" in your anchor text. from the thousand i pulled it looked like most anchor text was either "web design in lancashire" or "ingroup media". have you tried optimizing your local search for blackpool until your organic can make the first page? as an aside - you site looks nice.
use competitor backlink also check all techniques of your competitor its very effective for you and its long face keyword so you can get easily ranking
thanks i will take onboard all your advice. I am not sure about the xrumer though as i like to keep it white hat.
If you have your address listed on your site I would go around and hit every free local and national business directory you can find with the same exact information. I don't know if yellowpages.com and superpages.com is where you are but those types of sites is what I am talking about. If google maps offers a ten box for that term then it will help you a lot with that too.
