For many web sites and applications, search can be a major pain. I know of many who have struggled with tools like Lucene, Solr and Sphinx. They can be complicated, expensive to host and even yield bad results. My friends and I were just talking about how frustrating this can be when I stumbled upon this GigaOm story about a new hosted search solution launched just today called IndexTank.
