Suggestion 'Solved' options for thread openers

Well I saw this feature on another forum and thought that it could be useful for this forum since many people seem to be posting on threads long, long after the original problem has been solved.

Putting an option for the OP to mark the thread as 'solved' should lock the thread and only allow people to view it, not post on it. This will stop noobs who post 'nice information ty' or 'I too am having this problem' or anything similar just to get their post count up.

I'd leave out some forums though such as the BST section, General chat, underground etc.

The BST section could have a different button which marks the item as sold or something so people can stop messaging the OP.

    :)

It seems as easy to hit bad post report button and say please close. Stating item has sold won't keep those who run up post count from posting.

It would be easier for the OP of a thread to simply mark it as solved once they feel that their question has been answered rather than somone reporting all the dumb posts on there then you deleting them etc.

IDK but it sounds like a good idea to me. I'm also sure it would be pretty easy to implement as I've seen a few forums with it so I think it's a plugin of some sort.

I am looking at suggestion from mods perspective. Short of locking a thread there is always the possibility of members failing to read complete thread and post. Members can post in a thread item sold and hours, or days later someone may post directly below thread starters post s and ask what is the BIN or something equally senseless. This does not mean I think members should lock their own threads. As soon as thread starter expects disparaging posts regarding a sale or service, he/she request thread closure to attempt to silence opposition. If for any reason you find a thread that is locked and you are unable to leave feedback, use the bad post report and request thread be reopend and state reason.
