What do you think about, having a solved button at the bottom/or top of a topic, which is only visible/accessible to the topic author/and staff, which flags/prefixyfies the topic as solved, which will help prevent people responding to already solved topics.

Will typically be only enabled on help/support subforums such as the PHP help forum.

Got the idea from a large PHP forum which im a member of, and found it works.

    Thoughts?

Yes it has become very annoying reading the same answers or today I read a reply asking if the OP had found a solution. Now that's just spam posting. Some might say use the report button, but I ask, how can you report someone for posting an answer or further irrelevant questions.

A SOLVED button or auto-close threads after 3-7 days would be a great asset to the forum, further to that when I'm using google and I see a SOLVED message in the thread title, that's the link I'm going to click.

When problem is solved, use bad post report and request thread closure.
