Excatly I have same question in mind, But I went forward and submitted 2 articles to SIA.... Now I will not submit anything more unless I receive atleast 17.5$ per article as payment.....

Let's see how fast they can get sponsors and pay me for that...

I think that the terms of service which require each writer (who otherwise gets paid for their writing) to hand over their written work for free is abnormal, cochise. I have written for a few websites as a part of a revenue sharing deal and I always own my own content. If I cannot pull my original work off the website at my discretion or own it fully, what is the point? Who am I writing for?

Revenue sharing is okay when the writer owns their own content because of the promotional tasks that are done for the website. When Say It Aloud says in their terms of service that writers do not own their content and that Say It Aloud can act with the written content as outlined in their terms of service then I think this is a much more winning proposition for Say It Aloud then it is for the writers. When there are interested writers submitting questions about payment for recently submitted articles, I posted back.

To answer these and my own questions, I found that the SIA terms of service say that the articles must get sponsorship before payment is made and further, that the writers are not given a firm payment schedule. With written work being the backbone of their Internet venture, wouldn't it be logical that the writers might get some compensation upfront for their efforts or if they have to wait for a sponsor/revenue share event that they at least own their own content?

Would a construction worker build and give away all rights to a house on the condition that he/she would only get paid 10% of the total sponsorship price of the new and original house with an addition 1% for every new and original house that he made? Maybe if that construction worker were a servant. The construction worker likes and expects to get paid for time spent working on the house. Everybody likes to get paid fair and square for their work or to own their unsold work, even writers. Who knew?

I do write my own blog so that there are always fresh and free samples of my writing and that is pretty well it for the freebies. I will do paid samples when necessary.

Now, if, Say It Aloud just said that they were a revenue sharing company and explained their deal more upfront, I would not have been compelled to post parts of their terms of service and the link for anyone with questions about payment for submitted articles.

As a writer what concerns me most is the payment turnaround time.
Why would I want a check after a month?
Why will a PayPal payment take 2 weeks to be completed? ( It hardly takes a minute)

I have written for many sites and clients within the last 4 years. The highest I have been paid for a page long article has been $80.

    Has anyone been paid yet?

If the site was established the results would be something different:
    Google PageRank Checker
    PageRank: 0 / 10

    WhoIs details suggest:
Record last updated on 2009-01-20 00:00:00
    Record created on 2004-11-30 00:00:00
    Record expires on 2009-11-30 00:00:00

Since its creation, it has not managed any PR. 5 years is a long time.

Personally, I believe the payment offered is really good but where is the proof this works?

It's evident that many people have visited this thread and the concerned site. Has anyone been paid yet?
Has anyone seen sponsors for their articles?

Please answer these queries (client, or other writers), so, I can give this more thought.

    Thank you.

It seemed to me that the site owners want articles in place in preparation for a launch date which is some 20 days away.

I'm not sure if anyone has been paid as yet or if people will only get paid when the website is up and running fully.

I've written a few articles for SIA but I don't feel I want to waste writing time if there is no guarantee of payment. Sounds a bit hit or miss.

I wouldn't say its a waste of time as I don't know enough about it, but by the same token, I don't have enough information to say that it will be financially rewarding either.

I think we nee much more information, more detailed than is available on the SIA website.

yeah, this sounds very interesting and it fits my needs perfectly. but i don't want to write a lot to end up not getting nothing.
I hope to see more details soon...or at least a proven payment...

Fair enough darklight. I thought the first post was pretty clear that there is no upfront payment, but I can see why that would turn people away. I have no problem writing a few articles on sports, which I enjoy doing, and putting them onto this site. If it doesn't pay, then I'll stop and only have lost a couple hours of my free time.

No, this is a long term project. We are going to be making this our baby and it has now taken the number one priority for our site. We will seek out advertisers until every space is filled. We have been going for only related advertisers to the article, but now we have upped that to go after all forms of advertising except porn and the like.

Guni, We have already paid several writers as of this last Friday. You can ask them and look in the forums about several people who have already received payment. The bottom line is the only reason we don't offer flat compensation is because we get articles that, at least for now, are going to be hard to find related advertisers for. But as I said above, we are lifting the "related only" stipulation we gave our staff because we are getting advertisers who are going to want to be in places not related to them because the demographic is similar to people who would be interested in them.

Thanks Co, was feeling like I Was purely on the defensive there. The bottom line is, we willget to a point where we don't care what people do to their writings AFTER the search engines acknowledge that the original content came from our site. What fair is it for those who work their tail off and submit original content if our PR suffers because of all the article spinning and clone content that the few who would seek to to take advantage of this would do.

If you guys look up the TOS for other sites like this, most of them carry the same terms and release of liabilities.

Maks, that isn't the case, What you will see is those who wrote bigger articles split them into separate parts. People who write smaller articles, like we have poetry that is only 50 something words, can't really be split into multiple pages so advertisers would only be three rather than six, or in some overzealous persons writing 33.

No worries, Honestly I would do the same thing. Heck, I have several articles on there and am just not telling the staff which ones they are to see how long it takes them to get them sponsored.

I just got permission from users RandyV, 1337Gamer, and Biz Guru that you guys can contact them and ask them if they have received payment on their articles yet. I put out several requests to others and asked them for the same permission, but at least one of the writers has already posted in the forum on the www.SayItAloud.com website that they received their money.

blue you just need to go to the site and register. Once we reach our cap of writers the process will be different. Welcome about John. ihate, you submitted your article like Friday, Sales staff is just now starting to get to the office and we work on getting sponsors for each and every article. So a little more than a day or so of patience would be a good thing right now.
