let's say i know photoshop and nastran and i want two websites for portfolios or tutorials or something like that, i can't find any decent photoshop related .com, some obscure combinations are premium domains ... in the same time nastrantutorials.com is still available (and pretty much every single one that i can think about, excepting nastran.com) why? not all the photosop related are developed so ppl buy them for selling, because they see value there, why is that? there is no connection between the value of the software and the value of the domains (photoshop is cheaper) help me out, what i'm missing here?
People procure those domains to sell them at a higher price later on. They could be even hold it for a period of 5 years and sell it at a much higher price. Some domains are catcy, short and easy to remember and hence fetch a higher price. Regarding your query, You are comparing the value of a single domain to the value of a single disc of photoshop. Well Adobe is a billion dollar company so a good domain targetting photoshop tutorials is valuable as there are lots of photoshop users worldwide in search of tutorials.
thx, for the quick reply MSC Software Corporation is also a billion dollar company, but i think you're right about the number of users and more exactly of power users, i assure u that there are lots of nastran users worldwide in search of free tutorials, but the problem is that nobody will take the time to develop them and make them available for free ... also, photoshop users are more web-oriented than nastran users ... maybe i found my market
I think photoshop tutorials related site would be a wise thing given its popularity. Do you need a tutorial related domain? TutorialCave.com is available for registration.
