software licensing through Clickbank?

    Hey folks!

I have software that I designed and sell through one of my own sites. I want to list it with Clickbank, but I'm running into a problem and need your suggestions.

My sales script on my site checks the PayPal confirmation and uses that to generate a License Key which goes to the customer along with their software download.

But with Clickbank, I won't be able to intercept the PayPal Id, so I'm not sure how to automatically generate and deliver a new key with a Clickbank sale.

How have those of you who sell software with licenses through Clickbank set up your license delivery mechanism?

    Thanks!

perhaps if they get to DL the SW on the Cb thankyou page then just get the to email and autoresponder for the license / unlock key.. its an extra step but so long as everything a customer needs is on the thankyou page they wont mind.

You could use the clickbank Order number to create a license key.

If you can alter the script, get http://www.dlguard.com - It will pretty much do the same thing except you will be doing it with your CB invoice #'s generated per sale. There is a secret key option that you pass as well. It may not be your solution however perhaps an option. There are custom scripts out there (probably much like you have) that get attached to software which generate keys and store them on a remote DB, and upon each application launch it simply checks the DB against the software license. DL is good as it tracks refunds as well, thus people will not be able to use it if they refund the product...

Have a look at Micro Niche Finder.

Somehow this guy creates 2 license keys per user and it is drive on the back-end with a database.

Maybe email him if your product is not a competitor.

You could set up a script to process the sales notification emails you receive as a publisher. It would read the email, generate a license key and send it via email to the customer. It could do the same for refunds (revoking the license key).

Alternatively, CB sends customers to your thank you page with a "cbreceipt" parameter which you can check in a similar way to the PayPal ID you mentioned before.

In MircoNiche finder the order number is the first key the second is the order number and then a number at the end.
