Software as an add-on to my e-book

Hey guys,

I currently sell my own informational product (a bodybuilding program) with a few bonus items and am looking to create an upsell offer for it.

One idea I had was to get a basic piece of software developed...maybe something that members could use to track progress in the gym, body fat/strength levels etc...Things like that.

Where is a good/cost effective place to have something like this created?

Your cheapest bet would be a freelance site. A place where you can hire people who do this type of stuff for a living.

What do you see this software like?

Somthing that they use on your website? (flash, php, sql, asp, javascript)
Somthing that runs on their pc? (flash, java, visual basic, c)

Somthing that runs on your site would be best, so maybe its not software you want, but a dynamic website, like the weightwatchers site -- they have somthing like "maybe" you are thinking about, or even fitday.com -- that is a great site for tracking fat/weight etc.

Maybe a better idea what you want, and your budget man would help

 

I was thinking more of a piece of softare that is downloaded and run off of the PC.

It wont be cheap man, have a look and you'll get an idea of what you might have to pay.

I would really go with the online idea. Reasons?

1. Anyone will be able to use it. If its made in flash/php -- it will run on any pc, mac/pc/linux. Software that runs on a PC (.exe) will only run on windows.

2. You could have a community that goes with the online software -- intergrate your online software with a forum, so people can talk about their progress. give them their own space to have a blog that others can read while following your plan/software.

3. You can display ads on an online app, so you can generate more cash like that. This would be hard with pc based software.
