yes thats true....you need to find group and be active over there...suggest your site to questions........so you get both backlinks and traffic.....not much sure with backlinks but Traffic is must.
traffic maybe, but due to the spammy nature of most social networks nowadays soon their backlinks will cause nothing but trouble.
I like Squidoo. You can build pages relevant to your site, and place links strategically through the page. Gives both a relevant link and traffic. Here are a couple of the "Lenses" I've done that work well. Video Technology DoFollow Blogs Both of these are only a few weeks old but getting search engine traffic as well as social traffic from Squidoo. A pretty high percentage of the people that reach this page move on to my sites.
social networking or social bookmarking sites should be used as traffic sources instead of backlinks. it looks like now social networking or bookmarking sites have been spammed a lot and there are people who are teaching how to spam this sites. the reason why SE algorithm keep changing is because of the spam. so if you thinking for backlink you will waste your time doing it.
I like Squidoo lenses too. They are great for driving highly targeted traffic to a website. The problem of spam has also been mentioned in this thread. After a massive attack by spammers, Squidoo got tough on spam. Accounts were deleted, lenses locked, reporting methods improved, module minimums set and a Work in Progess (WIP) mode was introduced where lenses fall out of Squidoo search results. No social networking site will ever be spam free, but Squidoo have done a great job of cleaning it up.
