I used to hate fake profiles, but honestly, they aren't really a bad idea. Here is a formula:

    1. Upload 100 hot 21 year old girl profiles
    2. Upload gallery images of other them kisses other girls
    3. Sign in as them and talk to people

As lame as it sounds, it does work. I have seen it over and over. HOT GIRLS DRIVE THESE WEBSITES. I don't mean to sound lame, but we all know this is true.

    Cheers,
    Brian

Unfortunately, True.com abides by all the important things that marketing companies adhere to. The vices of men are an easy thing to pick off. However, i think that another good way to keep people coming back to a website is to continually add new things to the website. Small things, maybe a horoscope or a product review section. I don't think that people should create a website will all the bells and whistles at the beginning. This will prove them both nieve and poor. With no money for marketing, their social networking website will truly fail.

I wish I had a secret to getting people to social networking websites. I would have created an e-book...the internets first great scam.

    Cheers,
    Brian

I think webbizideas hit it right on the head. I think truly successful NICHE sites need to not only have the community interaction of a social networking site, but also have create regularly updated content and services that keeps users coming back. So not only is the site feed buy it's members as in myspace, but also fed by the webmasters to attract new members and increase the site's value. IMHO

It totally depends on a Niche, I know of a social networking site that went from 0 to 30,0000 users in 30 days... It all depends on how well u target your niche.

    Hi,

Starting a networking site with fake profiles is like creating a dating service with fake members...pointless. Just build a good websites, always be logged in as the administrator, and list your website as a BETA.

People will appreciate the beta stage and you will be surprised at the amount of people who join to help the business grow.

I wonder if paying already popular and "attractive" members on your site to recruit people would do any good. It would them keep you legit and stop people complaining about fake profiles on the site.

The way i'm gonna get people to use my site is to lure them in via how nicely it'll work. Basically alot of people I know said they'd use my site over MySpace and Facebook if it functioned just as good or better.

Although, fake profiles may also happen, but hopefully I won't need to go there. lol
