any joy with Pligg sites? theres a new update out which I have been looking at.

 

Just looked at this application looks neat but are there security holes?

 

The only problem with PhpIzabi is the Lack of themes.
I cant find any ANYWHERE.

 

if you are a designer you can design your own themes. Or just modify the html/php files

 

You know its not as easy as you say.
PHPizabi themes are a bit advanced for me to customize mate, I am good at making Joomla templates.

Can anyone suggest me some sources please ?

 

u can make joomla also using CB plugin that will work for you i think.I,am planning to make one network site but i will take sme time before i start

I was only aware of Pligg for social networking, I think Pligg is the most famous but its produce almost same website as DIgg without any major changes.

 

Are those all free to use? How good are they? Are they comparable with the paid scripts? Which one is the best out of those?

I am actually searching for a social networking script that works like hi5. I need a scipt that is attractive to look at, powerful and also has the feature that allows user to import their contacts (msn, hotmail, gmail and other contacts) and invite them to become their friends.

 

iZabi is a great script, however some core files are encrypted.

I am currently searching the script which I can build website like Shopit.com which the user can post their item for sale and wanted item for auction.
It's look like combination b/w social network and multi-estore site.

Then you need to look at AROUNDMe - their collaboration server is if you want groups and their identity server is if you want people personal web sites (like Myspace) -> http://www.barnraiser.org/

 

You might check out a free script called dolphin. They are a social networking site that seems to fers the same options on their scripts as myspace. I think you will be as happy with it as any script you can purchase.
They are sold by boonex and you can find them on their site.

 

I've checked out a bunch of myspace clones and social networking scripts and so far the best one seems to be Our Space at http://www.2coolcode.com/ourspace/ . Its the easiest to customize and they have faaaaast tech support and installed it for me right away which was good because other companies have ripped me off in the past. The great thing about Our Space is that it comes with all of the standard features that myspace has plus some cool additional features I haven't found anywhere else. They seem to update the program all the time because i'm always getting updates. And thats the greatest thing. all of their tech support upgrades and installs are free for life. I checked out PHPfox and they charge additional for all that stuff plus their software is twice as much than 2coolcodes. So far Our Space is at my #1 list!
