The internet has for a long time been the true test of ‘freedom of speech.’ But at what cost to many unsuspecting individuals? Sometimes celebrities are the targets of internet video leaks that are quickly spread across the globe through sites like YouTube, whose links are easily advertised on social network profiles such as MySpace and Facebook. But almost as often, celebrities are made by the uploading of embarrassing videos of everyday individuals, which are then emailed and posted and thus spread like wildfire to each end of the world. The infamy which results from many of these videos or photos being spread so easily can be devastating to the individuals who are victimized by their being spread. But who is to be held responsible?
