social networking sites can help many ways including getting some traffic. but traffic from social bookmarking is not a reliable source of traffic. you will get some traffic at the beginning if you submit to a lot of sites. but if your story page is not something of a real interest to the SB site members, then the traffic will slowly die down.
For me, organic traffic is still far better than social networking and bookmarking communities. But of course, these two really boost the traffic of your site, this strategies are advisable if you are targeting a particular area.
Social bookmarking and communities both are good sources of organic traffic, you cannot compare "result" from "mediums"

Yes, social networking and bookmarking are good ways to grab organic traffic. @Z33M@N You can bookmark your own site once. If you do it more than once, it may fall into blackhat category
as my opinion, social bookmarking and social networking can be use to get index and backlinks because the traffic from the social bookmarking is not ensure thing to be consider about.but it helps in backlinks of course!!
Ya its true . and according to my experience twitter is most powerful bookmarking as google show twitter's result over my organic one. but cant use it frequently, once in a month is cool
