Check out Havli.com. The social networking script is called SeeMySpace. The script isnt live yet, but will be this month.

    Hi all,

I received a PM with a pretty good offer for Handshakes v3.2.. As I don’t have to many experiences with these programs I was hoping to get some feedback.

    Thanks,

Try elgg, the scripts on HotScripts.com and also check out pligg if you are going to create a Digg-like site. There are many social networking site stock scripts out there as well -- search for myspace stock scripts and you'll find many of the best

Phpizabi is good. It's a little different, but it's free and open source. I prefer elgg, but phpizabi is an option.

    It's phpizabi.net

I think that you will find these "scripts" to be limiting. When you want to modify them you will have to know some programming or pay someone to do it for you.

I looked into this same thing about a year ago and went with what looked promising at the time which was boonex "dolphin" http://www.boonex.com/products/dolphin/

What a mistake that was. To many problems, not enough support etc. etc.

If I had to do it over again I would go with the Drupal CMS. It will take more effort in the beginning to develope it into a full blown social networking site but the effort in my opinion is worth it.

You will be able to customize your site and make changes when you need them without digging into the code or hiring someone to do it. Plus there is a large community that supports it.

If you want an out of the box script, then Drupal is not it. If you want something that you will make your own and have a community to support it then I would go with Drupal. Imho it is the best "social networking" software out there.

That will depend a lot on our finances, we would like to hire more extra help but at this point we cannot.

The success of this product will largely increase our ability to hire more people to come work with us and deliver our product updates in a more timely manner.
