I'm going to be building a social network and was wondering what you think the best way to achieve what I'm looking for. Option 1) Get someone to design a unique template for Boonex Dolphin, and also get major coding changes to it to suit what I need for the site. Option 2) Buy a license for socialengine and then do the same as Boonex, although I wouldn't need that much changed if I use this script instead. I was thinking of going with option 1 since it's free, then spend the money to get it customized the way I want. Also, I don't have to much money to spend at the moment so I would kinda rather work on a free script so I have a basic platform to work off of. What do you guys (and girls =]) think would be the better plan? Thanks
did you ever consider phpfox(i'm a big fan of it and have used it)? ...i haven't used socialengine..though i hear it's good. i messed around with boonex but found that phpfox was better (of course boonex has the added benifit of being free!) my hunch is that, in the end, you're going to have to layout the same amount of cash to get a customized social network site.. but i'd personally argue for going for phpfox or socialengine... they both seem to be doing well which bodes well for their continued development ( i can only speak personally for phpfox)
