Hi, I am an online marketer. I recently got a client who wants me to do Social Media Marketing only. It is a relatively new field for me. I have been researching a lot on social media marketing these days, but am still not confident on how to go about it. Can you please help me out in this and give some valuable suggestions and advice? Also, I came across this information about a workshop on Social Media Marketing (http://www.socialmediaworkshop.net) by Dave Evans (who is perhaps very renowned in this field and has also written a book—Social Media Marketing-an hour a day). I’ll be attending the workshop. Please tell me how much can that workshop help me? Help is deeply appreciated. Thanks
Forget the workshops. The best thing to do is to use it yourself. It's really not rocket science. Spend a couple hours for each one. Facebook, twitter, myspace, youtube, flickr, digg, mixx, reddit, and as many others as you have time for. Play around with it yourself before you do anything for a client.
YEah. the best experience is practice. Learn how about these social networks effectively thru article and then do it yourself.!
Its really the same pillars as traditional marketing- understanding your customer, reaching them where they are and selling. The difference is the tactics. Selling is not by screaming ads or push messages but by engaging them and creating conversations. Observe the tone, voice and attitude that different companies in your industry adopt on all the channels and see what you can incorporate into your plan. One thing is there .. once you learn a little bit about how to use these tools, create a solid plan after doing some research on where your customers are hanging out. The plan should really vet the various social networks and channels and just choose a handful thats relevant to your market .. get in there.. get creative, listen to them and use some free social media monitoring tools (or paid) and go with the flow! Dont expect immediate results. My two cents. Sam
I agree with all thats been said. I would not attend the workshop, especially now. I would learn some basics first, then consider some advanced and specific training. It truly is common sense, but does require some effort. As ravm explained, start big, then filter down. Facebook and twitter alone will be a great start. There are many other social networking sites/organizations out there. Putting in the work will be the best benefit to you.
the big advantage of Social Media such as Twitter is that you can find their the group of people, who you know definetely (95%) are interested in your product. When found them - just need to catch their attention.
hai dear u dnt need any work shop!! its very simple!! just create your account on digg, facebook, flicker, twitter, yahoo.answers, yedda, slashdot, mixx, diggo, propeller, reddit, clipmarks, hotfrog, shoutwire.... and do activity daily or randomly
social media marketing means you should get people spread your business - people got to love what you do.So do not just go by my what others say about SMM.Do everything that you think will catch other people's attention.People should talk about your business - feel it really good - want to tell about your business to others. NOTE:To get better in SMM,your business/your client's business should also be good.If the business is not so impressive then it will be hard to catch others' attention even if you are a gr8 SMM.
