    From what I have seen there is really limited traffic from these links, but most do offer a backlink for SEO purposes.

    Social bookmarking is the practice of saving your favorite web pages to a public web site so they can be accessed from any computer or shared with other people.

    The bookmarks can also be "tagged" to help you find a particular bookmark at a later date.

    If you come across a particular page on the website that you find interesting or wish to share with others you can save it for future reference.

    Social Bookmarking is off page activity. It is mostly used for getting quality backlinks and site crawl quickly.

    Social bookmarking means saving your favorite sites or pages in some openly accessible sites where other users or members can view about your saved favorite sites from your profile pages.This a very good method of link building.This shows that a site is favorite to how many internet users & hence is liked by search engines.

    Social bookmarking is quite essential for SEO of a site.Without social bookmarking SEO of a site is incomplete.

    I wouldn't say a site is incomplete, I'd say that social bookmarking is great for certain niches.

    Social bookmarking can serve many purposes. If you can get a story to stick on digg or reddit you can get massive ammounts of traffic depending on the niche you're in. Most people that do SEO use it for backlinking and indexing purposes and hence many tools have been developed to automate the creation of these links. If you want to use bookmarking for backlinks definitely get an automation tool like SENuke, Bookmarking Demon or Bookmarkingwiz.
