Hi, I was wondering what effect will social bookmarks give to our sites? I have read a thread in high rankings saying that "Social media is marketing not optimising and not specially effective unless done properly" and giving an example What can you say about this?
Social bookmarking does not mean prompting in other niches for your own promotion. You create your own content (related to your niche or related to your business) and then submit it on social bookmarking website for target audience. If you are using bookmark tags, you are kind of adding tags with your listings to make it search friendly. Suppose you are online i-phone vendor and and you have submitted related content on some social bookmarking website with bookmark tags. When a user comes and search for i-phones and your URL is appearing on the top, you are pulling traffic for your website. So, if done properly, social bookmarking can do wonders for you.
social book marking doesn't mean "Self-Marketing" all the time. It helps to create a buzz, brand awareness or relating to people of your niche. As an example you wrote a new bakery recipe in a blog post. Whereas you can start a discussion, reviews, comments with other bakery owners or users. And if people like this it will be one of a discussed topic in your area it gives you recognition & promotes your brand.
hey its always good if you are submitting your link to the directories make sure the directories are good so that the effect that you get linking to them is also good, choose high PR directories
guys., social media is for socializing with everyone.. thats it.., you will get traffic but that traffic need to get converted.., this is very most of them are failing.., as the above example shows simply that he hadn't used any marketing strategies.,first he need to engage with users and need to know their views on bakery.., later he should had approached.., but he bluntly said that "i have a bakery".., this is not a correct strategy.., if u seed well then it will definetly give a fruit..., but in this type of marketing patience is most important..,
Nothing will give you positive effect if you are not doing it correctly. So if you want to do the social bookmarking than hire someone who have knowledge and team for it. This will make your task lot easier.
I have submitted some content to social bookmarking sites, haven't seen any results. I know it is because I have no idea how to use them correctly. So yes, it is important to do it the right way. Either learn or outsource.
I liked the analogy you give in your post where the guy walks in, says something abruptly and then walks out. Sadly, that is the way that most marketers offline or online are trying to do their marketing. While you do need to have some presentation tools and sales aids, you also need to engage. If, in the example you gave earlier, the guy says: Hi Mr. Business owner, my name is "blah" and I just wanted to introduce myself and my company down the street to make people aware of us. I wanted to stop by and invite you guys in for a free pastry and welcome you and all friends are welcome as we are having a local awareness party..." now that is engaging. Its also inviting. Its a pull strategy that welcomes people in to you instead of you pushing onto them. People like being welcomed...they don't like being bombarded and commanded. I'd love to hear thoughts on this.
