About 2-3 weeks ago I started using social bookmarking to try and get links to my site. I used all the main ones that are supposed to give do follow links but none of them are showing up in yahoo site explorer or google. Am I doing this properly? Thanks
Don't worry so much about it "showing up". You only get to see a portion of your backlinks anyway. Yahoo only shows you 1,000 and Google even less. Just keep on working.
Bookmarking websites helps a lot, even if you don't see your results. I use a rather advanced SEO software, and no matter how many links i create (and created already) in Bookmarking websites, I'm still "stuck" with the same number of LINKS. Go figure...
I assume what you are doing depends on you. But results do not depend on you. That is normal and that depends on the web sites you have posted your links at. One day that could be dofollow but next day that would be nofollow
I have managed a site with 4,000 inbound links, verified from server logs etc... google showed 49. Thats a little over 1%. And they weren't bookmarks or social media. Forget ever finding your backlinks on any search engine or with any backlink finding tool. Nobody but google, yahoo and bing know where they are and they are not going to tell you any time soon. Concentrate on producing a natural looking blend of links that grows slowly and steadily over time, on a variety of SM sites. This is known to work. Keep at it and you pages will rise in the search rankings if you don't target anything too competitive.
google isn't showing all your back links, yahoo will show most of them eventually but it take time. yahoo will usually update your back links after a few days.
i added www.mobila-cleopatra.ro to digg and in less the two hours google was showing me the link using this line in google search box "www.mobila-cleopatra.ro" (this way you can check yours too) DO NOT FORGET about the sitemap, if you don't have one, it's time to create and update it on your server and then tell google, bing and yahoo using theyr webmasters tools. Viva !
