Social Bookmarking - Link Generation - Penalty?

    Does anyone think there may be risk of getting a penalty from the SE's when using these types of sites to generate backlinks? If you hit enough of them then a pattern is going to emerge and we all know how Google loves to smack us when we play around with their stuff :(
