I have a French site and I wonder if it is OK to submit it to Digg, Reddit, Delicious, etc. to gain backlinks? Won't my submissions be deleted, as it's not an English site?
Some sites, like stumbleupon, will get you good amounts french traffic. But english established bookmarking sites won't get you as many valuable visitors as french sites. -Martin
Hello, andrej was talking about backlinks. I do confirm BM sites work fine to get more backlinks even if your site is in french; but getting traffic from them is another story. Meanwhile, I observed Stumble sent me some visitors as there is a growing communauty of french fellows there. Unlike what you think, some fully english sites are very popular among the french communauty. Take Facebook, for instance. Cheers. Thibaut
The popular English-language social-bookmarking websites do not mind non-English content, as long as it's not adult content. You may want to consider submitting your website to French social-bookmarking websites, such as the ones listed on Webmaster Toulouse. Otherwise, submit your website to French website directories, such as 1001 Favoris Classic. I have no idea as to how popular French social-bookmarking websites are, so for now don't expect tons of traffic from those to your website. Good (English-language) contributions to Digg or StumbleUpon are known to occasionally flood a website, i.e. consume all available bandwidth. Also, consider joining this team or Piqq.us, StumbleSwap, StumbleUdon (free invitations can be obtained here). Bonne chance!
