Social Bookmarking / Does it have an affect on SEO?

I'm just curious how Social Bookmarking sites like delicious affect a website's Search Engine Optimization...?

I believe you are gaining backlinks when you sumit your site to social bookmarking sites. Every backlinks counts, and proper anchor text will help you gain better serp.

 

My experience says it's a big plus. Some nice services here on the buy, sell, trade section.

 

It will also depend if the site uses the "no follow" tag. If it is a big web 2.0 site but still uses the "no follow" tag, the SEO value will be negligible.

I am fairly sure that myspace does not use the "no follow" tag, and you could try them to see what happens.

 

I have found DIGG to carry some link juice.

 

search engine optimization is all about improving visibility of link/site in result pages of search engines and social bookmarking are the best place for it because they frequently indexed after every update.

 

Social bookmarking is the best way to increase your serp postion becuase there you can assign the appropirate keywords and description but one more bad aspect is that now a days most all bookmarking site has started using nofollow tags and there are very few left with follow.

Similarly all blog owner has also started using nofollow tag. So my advice is to use only those sites which is having follow tags and remember these sites does not only provice rise in serp but you can get huge traffic also, how ? only when the link you have submitted is viewed and voted by large number of visitors.

 

It does help, as long as you linking your keywords on this social bookmarkings it gives back links to your site.

 

Some of the social bookmarking sites have dofollow links and they can help u as backlinks.

 

Links from bookmarking site indexed quickly and counted as backlinks, so it means it help if you use your targeted keywords as anchor text. It also give traffic.

 

Digg is especially valuable, it can get your site in top 10 even if it's new. For easy keywords, of course, but you still might be getting some search engine traffic from them. Also very valuable when you are looking for fast indexing.

 

social bookmarking sites like Digg, StumbleUpon etc... can generate traffic and back links.

 

Just an update to my original post. I see that DP as of 3/3/08 no longer allows social bookmarking services. Oh well, use Google and search on the net for some.

Well, social bookmarking may help your site to indexed fast by Google.

 

Further clarification on DP social bookmarking is that you can't sell click services or clicks. Check out the sticky in the buy/sale/trade section

 

i have seen it and i have done it, social bookmarking can really make a big difference as other said proper anchor text and proper titles will surely increase serp

 

If they do not use no follow they can help a little.

 

It definitely helps and the traffic I get from social bookmarking sites is a plus.
