I submitted my site to a host of social bookmarking sites including propeller, delicious and etc... about 3-4 days ago. It seems like, however, neither Google nor yahoo picked up those backlinks. What is usually the waiting time for the search engines to pick up backlinks from such popular sites?
Sometimes they pick it up right away but other times it seems like it takes a few months for them to show. who knows how it works. I always use search status from fire fox and some days i have lots of links, then other days I only have a few. Sometimes if I do the search a couple times it will come back different after like the 3rd try. I don't understand it either but I know it usually takes a few months for everything to start to show up and level out.
Place your site in your signature and post frequently, this will also help getting your site indexed.
There is no specific time duration to index the link backs from the popular websites. It would completely depend upon the spider crawl rate. If the search engine spider crawled the popular website, it would index all the pages and recognize the link back to update the same in SERPs. But the moment link backs have been deleted in the popular websites, the SERPs would be disappeared without any notification.
1. You have to be patient with these things. 2. Make sure you submit to DoFollow social bookmarking sites if you're submitting for backlinks. 3. Don't expect great SEO results by just submitting to social bookmarking sites.
It depends on how you are checking the backlinks. delicious and propeller pages are indexed rather fast. BTW, delicious is nofollow though it can send some traffic your way.
if you search google using www . yoursite . com you'll see the bookmarking site link there .. also you can use google webmaster tools to check on the links and I am sure you'll see them. Don't just rely on link:www. yoursite .com
It's strange that the crawlers didn't crawl it. Usually when I submit a site to Digg, it gets crawled within a few hours.
I agree, submitting to sites like Digg, propeller should get your site picked up in a matter of hours. Its possible that you have invalid html issues within the coding on your site. I read somewhere in this forum about this once. I can't remember how to check this but I am sure there are plenty of others in here that can suggest how to go about validating your html...
both of these are nofollow sites and you wont see any backlinks from there. links fromn dofollow sites, it takes google months to update backlinks
