I'm a newbie at social bookmarking. Anyone have any advice on how to get started? How long do the bookmarks stay active? What are the best sites to submit to? Are there programs that will submit to multiple sites at the same time? thanks in advance!!
Submit to Digg, Stumble Upon and Delicio as they are popular. I think there is some software but I think you will have to buy it. Try searching in Google for it. Good luck with sb.
The purpose is not to submit your content to social bookmarks but write good content that people will Just my 2 cents
Depends on which one you are dealing with. Most have an indefinite time, but use rel-no-follow, so they're not worth much for SEO-purposes. Depends on your niche. Stumbleupon will work for most subjects, if you have quality content. Yes, but I'd advise against using those. With most of these sites you'll get the best results if you take the social in social bookmarking seriously.
Here is the list of few popular bookmarking sites that you may wish to check; http://webloghits.com/index.php/tip...kmarking-sites-to-promote-your-blog-articles/
kh7 said it best. For good traffic you must interact with other users on these sites. Join groups, network with other people, make friends, etc. It's a lot of work. But you must also have content that people will find intersting.
It's all about the content, if its good you will find yourself on most social boomark sites soon enough.
Infonote gives the most prominent ones in the social bookmarking scene with the stress on social. There are also social bookmarking sites where the focus is more on bookmarking: delicious, blink, yahoo bookmarks, magnolia.
All answers here have been quite accurate. However, you should focus more on quality content rather on worrying about the social bookmarking networks. Once content is of good quality and you have the publishing buttons on your website there will be no problem to go forward.
Content is the king ofcourse but social bookmark sites like Digg ,Stumbleupon ,reddit,de.licio.us,netscape can bring good amount of traffic and strong backlink to your site .
I agree with this statement. I always use Reddit and StumbleUpon, in Reddit there's a Karma point which you will get if you contribute to the community (socializing). The more karma point you have, the more chance that your story will be perceived as positive by other members. In StumbleUpon there's a Fans system too to determine how many people love your stumbling list.
