I've done a case study with social bookmarking alone mainly for rise in the serps using SB. Each site was identical but backlinked differently (SB blast NA-PR8, PR 0-1, PR1-3, PR2-8, PR7&8). In the end SB blast came out on top tied with PR7&8 SB links. Although neither of them made the first page it DRAMATICALLY pushed the two sites to the second page after about a week to a week and a half time. I did some more tweeking to the BL and shot up my PR7&8 site to the first page the next week. Its been about 3 weeks and my site is still on the first page above a few authority sites, we'll see how long it sticks.
