is social bookmarking really good for back links and traffic? and hjow do we bookmark in multiple site quickly ?
1. social bookmarking sites are useful for backlink if they're do-follow. 2. They don't give so much traffic. 3 Some people sells scripts in "Buy, Sell or Trade" category of the forum
if you can get a popular story on any of the social sites you will see a lot of traffic I got like 3k visitors just from Reddit when one of my images did well.
Social bookmarks can give you decent traffic but it rarely converts into any sales. At the same time they are good platform for launching link baits and can get your a lot of backlinks indirectly.
social bookmarking is another way to get good back links and those dofollow sites will help your website a lot especially when generating traffic...
I haven't yet found them usefull. I have submitted my blog to almost every popular social bookmarking sites and only got a little traffic from them. And none of them are giving me any PR love bcoz most of them are no-followed.
Social media sites are great source of traffic. I got most of the traffic from social media. StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and twitter are goods. But you need to spend time daily at social media. Increase your friends list on social media sites
Here is the Caroline Middlebrook blog post that I think is very helpful as you asked how to post at multiple sites quickly. I have not used it but I have read SocialMarker is a useful tool. http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/do-follow-social-bookmarking-sites/ She has a Blogger's Bible as well. I have been reading her posts for some time now and she does know what she is talking about-IMO! Good Luck!
I think it depends on what kind of site you operate. if you got what I call a 'general interest' site social bookmarking can bring you some decent traffic, but if you've got a specalist niche site it can be more difficult to generate sustainable traffic from SB sites.
Social bookmarks DO NOT help UNLESS you know what you're doing, as in, you are advertising specifically to that TARGET SOCIAL BOOKMARK SITE (such as the digg audience or the reddit audience). In addition, remember this golden rule: Social bookmarks/traffic is a reward for great content. If your content is great social sites will bookmark you and traffic will come to you. If you're social bookmarking yourself and trying to drive traffic through link baiting, you are trying to swim a river upstream, it can have negative effects like "i hate this site that keeps baiting me in and it's never anything interesting." And the next time they will bury / attack / dislike your site. What I mean by all this is, worthyness. There's a "value" on each content. People will place high value on interesting/entertaining/important information, and low value on repetitive/unoriginal information. If you're running a blog on say, 'how to make money' or 'using ebay' or 'SEO tips', you will not succeed ever. If you're running a blog on say 'Learning ancient languages', that seems really unique, and that will succeed in social media. Take for example one of the above posters here's website... http://www.dailydemotivators.com/ Some of the pictures were really not funny, as a result, my estimated value of the site, went down. I was thinking "this won't make it in social media", but then in some other pictures i found them to be really funny, especially the bowling one. I rated it 5 stars, I was compelled to do so. If I had laughed any harder I would have submitted it to social media, but unlucky for him, I am too sleepy (hope that helps Jason). He seems to have something really funny or really not funny, if he were to filter the unfunny ones, he'd have a pretty successful site, anyway I "liked it" on StumbleUpon as a result.
If you are interested in making money from your website, it will be difficult to do so by pursuing social traffic - especially if you rely on a contextual advertising system like adsense for your income. Social traffic does not last long. They move on to the next popular thing before you can even blink your eyes. Additionally, from my experience using social bookmarking websites to build links is almost worthless because of the shear volume of links these websites handle. For every other link added to the site and your page, the your links juice presumable gets decreased. I would always encourage building quality anchored links within the context of an article containing information and keywords about your website or niche.
Great advice Tarkan. You couldn't have said it any better. I suppose it all still boils down on content and finding people who are interested enough in it.
I have worked of Socail Sites and Blogs both even none of them is really impacting anything in sense of ranking and traffic.
Ya social bookmarking site increase backlinks as well as PR. Thanks & Regards SriRam Soft Trade Solutions
Some people use social bookmarking, constantly submitting their own articles and stuff. But never make it big. They get lots more traffic, but it's kind of like painting your car chrome, even though you're not allowed to take it out of the garage. It won't help because you'll never actually harness the power of that traffic. Those visitors won't come back because they will find your articles are not that great.
