I've been posting my links on mostly DoFollow Social BM sites. I've been doing this for almost a year. Whenever I do a - link:www.mySite dot com - none of my DoFollow Social BM sites never show up. The only SBM sites that show up is a couple NoFollow Social BM sites. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong by posting my links on dofollow sbm sites or they may not show up at all in the backlink list?
The only thing I can think of is if the links have been removed due to spam. Check backlinkwatch.com to see if they show up there. Oh, and what search engine have you been using to check? That might make a difference. -Danielle
How are you checking your backlinks? Use site explorer or google webmaster tools. Do you see the stories you posted on these sites? Are the stories indexed?
If your posts in do follow social bookmarking sites do not show up in your results, then the social bookmarking site might not have accepted your site submission.. You should check all your accounts and see if your submission was successfully published.. Successful posts in do follow sites should show up in backlink checker tools.. Here's a good backlink checker tool that you can also use.. http://seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/link-checker/..
This is perfectly normal. First, google and yahoo never show all the links when you search using the link: operator. They may show 10% or less of all the links. What criteria they use to decide which links to show and which ones not to show is anyone's guess but you will never see most of the links and it seems SB links never show up. After posting nearly 200,000 bookmarks for my clients I know of no case where they ever show up using the link: operator.
Another thing to ask yourself is whether the actual pages your link appears on were indexed by Google? If they're not crawled, then they won't appear in your list of backlinks.
I disagree entirely. For me, it is quite common for my social bookmarking links to show up if they're Do Follow. -Danielle
