Social BM Sites - Are They in your Back Link List???

I have bookmarked my sites about two months ago. I have used Backflip, BuddyMark, DZone, Spurl, and other High PR Social BM sites. I looked today in Google.com/webmasters and looked at my external links (inbound links). I didn't see any links coming from the SBM sites that I named above. I also looked in Yahoo - did a Link: myDomainName.com - and no backlinks coming from these sites as well (as we all know, Google doesn't list all back links). Just wondering if anyone has seen the same thing where SBM sites are not really backlinking to your site(s).

Personally I have done the same thing and have only noticed digg.com as a backlink. Does anyone have a list of do follow social bookmarking sites? Anyways you should attempt to write articles and post on blogs if your looking to show up with google and yahoo backlinks.

I did bookmark about 20 posts from one site over 4 days (via uSocial.net and Onlywire) and saw no results in Google until 3 weeks later, when they all popped up! Weird, but maybe it takes time to process the links...

Yes social bookmarking sites are in my backlink lists. But it may take sometime for spiders to crawl.

Personally I think there are much better link building strategies other than social bookmarking. In my experience they give a very small boost after submissions. Then the effects quickly die off as the social bookmarks get buried several clicks into those websites. So for now I am avoiding this strategy. In the future I may try at least bookmarking on the top 10 - 20 sites. Of course if you have a hot, buzz-worthy page/site/article, then it is much more worthwhile to do lots of social bookmarking. Most sites/pages won't generate much buzz from the masses.

I got a surprise as I placed a link on folkd and the link showed up the next day on page one of my backlinks. I haven't found any others as of this date. To say the least I was very surprised. I am never surprised to not see my backlinks so seeing one is pleasant for about a nano second.

top dofollow bookmarking sites not only get you backlinks but depending on where you submit to, you might get some free traffic as well. also, if you submit a good story page, people will stumble, digg, prop, etc sending you traffic storm. i would say it worths a try considering it doesn't cost you anything

Backlinking is a challenge to anyone who is struggling with our old adversary, persistence. Especially if you're focusing on sites with high authority, backlinks are solid investments of your time.

Just know beforehand that you may not see the fruits of your labors for up to 6 months in some rare cases. However, these rascals will be there forever.

I'm new at building links and SEO. I haven't begun with social bookmarking sites yet because I imagine them to be such a chore and I was told that many of them are no follow. I've also read though that there is no absolute final word on the worthlessness of no follow sites. They say, there may still be some value in it. I guess with more time in our hands, posting to social bookmarking sites may still be worthwhile.
