This is a great idea.... MyFootballClub is a venture that aimed to register 50,000 football enthusiasts to form an Industrial and Provident Society which would purchase an English football club, with funds gathered from members of the society. On 13 November 2007, it announced it had reached an agreement in principle, pending due diligence and a members vote, for the purchase of Ebbsfleet United F.C. of the Blue Square. The venture is being engineered by former football journalist Will Brooks.[2] The estimated purchase fund will be £1,375,000.[3] All members will have an equal share in the club and will collectively manage the club by making many of the decisions usually made by the manager and others, through a voting system on the MyFootballClub website. The watershed figure of 50,000 registrations expressing interest in participation was passed on 31 July 2007,[4] with a total of 53,051 registrations completed at that time. Collection of payments from those registered in order to become members has now begun, opening what MyFootballClub describes as "phase 2".[3] Leeds United lead the voting for takeover preference, followed by Cambridge United and Nottingham Forest.. http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk
