So you want more clicks? Well, there are only a few things you can do to affect how many people click on your ads. Here are some factors to consider... Ad placement Ad blending Traffic Quality/relevancy of content There are other factors as well, but mainly you're going to have to focus on the above factors. AD PLACEMENT Typically, placing ads "up" and to the left or right is good, and if you have a blog, placing an ad block in the post is helpful. Placing ads at the bottom of your site is a waste of an ad. AD BLENDING You can blend your ads within the content in order to make the ads look more like content and less like what they are: ads. Want an example? Vintage Halloween Costumes is a blog that is well-blended. The ads fit right in with the content. (A sidenote...what is the content? Affiliate links to auctions for vintage Halloween costumes. More income. Yay.) If you want to easily blend your ads, you might consider using an optimized theme such as ProSense from doshdosh.com or one of many other AdSense-optimized themes. QUALITY OF CONTENT It's not so much an issue of "quality" in the sense that the content must be mind-blowing, entertaining, or well-written. What you need is content that has a lot to do with the subject people are looking for so they get to your site, but not so good that they never click on your ads. It's a delicate balance, right? Sure it is. But if they get to your site because it's relevant to what they're looking for, but then they find out that they really don't want to read your articles, etc. then guess what they are more likely to do? That's right - click on your AdSense ads. TRAFFIC This is the biggest factor of all. I don't care what anyone else says: you need traffic above all other things. It's your god above all others. Get traffic. How to get traffic? Well, leave links everywhere. EVERYWHERE. In blog comments. In forum sigs. On other sites you own. You don't have other sites? Well get some! Use free blogs (i.e. Blogger, Wordpress.com, etc.). They are useful for getting your main site indexed. You can write posts about the subject matter of your "main" site, and make sure to put a link to your site in each post. To drive traffic to your main site, ping your site, ping your other blogs, and ping anyplace that links to your site. Also, be sure to utilize StumbleUpon, reddit, and digg, along with Technorati, and any other services. Submit not only your main site, but submit your free blogs as well. To save time, use the fast pings method. It will keep you organized and save you time. When you do all of the above, you will see an improvement in your AdSense CTR.
Thanks for sharing good info. I think i am using first 3 techniques but i am not using traffic technique anyway from now onwards i will use the traffic technique also.
Quality of content and traffic building should be the #1 focus at first. If you fail to put up good content and get people there, your studies and effort spent on adsense will be in vain.
thanks for info , i am new for blogging and was searching for how to get traffic, it is of great use to me
Cool, just searching a long for a tip how to get more income and my own WordPress Plugin shows up! So why are you guys making money with it, and I stick to lousy 0.05-0.20 $ per day? What am I doing wrong?
Newbies like me get so much from these few tips that are surely very good and supplemental to my knowledge. Thank you very much for the tips here.
I think my site has the first two. The third I could still work on, but what my site is screaming for is targeted traffic because it has potential.
Today I took one of my highest traffic sites, that oddly had the worst CTR, and completley changed the entire layout of the site and adsense ads. That was 3 hours ago, and since then I got 18 clicks above average. I guess it shocked the regular visitors or something because they got clicking!!
