I've was thinking about this last night and I thought about this little trick. Obviously others have done this but I'm wondering if adsense would get you mad if you did this. Example: Lets say you are getting x,xxxUV per day at this karate site. Now typically all of the ads are about buying weapons and what not but what if you took the main article, and started to add in keywords that are worth a lot more. Basically you keep the article in place but use metaphors and whatever you can to add in those big hitter keywords such as mesothelioma etc. Its possible that a thoughout the day the ad may show up one of the high paying keywords and even though its not related I'm sure you would get a couple of clicks here and there. You think adsense will ban you for this?
Why would a visitor coming to see karate and martial arts related articles, click on mesothelioma ad? I think it will be a bad idea.
I think it won't work. 1st of all adsense bot is really smart and it knows what your site is all about secondly google ads get clicked on at such high rate because they are related to the user interest, so visitors that are interested in karate won't ever click on mesothelemia ad. And I did try this once but didn't work. I run a few proxy sites, which are basically one page website and I used forex and insurence keywords in that one page but google kept showing ads related to proxies and VPNs etc.
yes i think you could get some extra clicks. Even if the visitors are interested in martical arts they could click the ads because of curiosity.
I think Adsense will first see your domain. If your domain is related to karate, I doubt that it will show your targeted HPK.
I doubt google cares, why? - because there are tonnes of sites out there with bad/old keywords in meta tags and descriptions, and ads show up for those keywords even if the content on the page may not be related. I think if you display a skyscraper google ad you will get 2 top links to something you've just looked at in your browse history, next 1 or 2 related to the meta tags, and lastly stuff related to the page content in an article (thats what i've seen before) BUT Say it did work - and you got high paying keywords - the amount of clicks you'd get would be less although money wise it would most likely be the same. so 10 clicks @ .50 is the same as 2 clicks @ 2.50 I would say the trick to earning more with your example is to find what people are looking for - based on your karate example - i'd say find a reseller/drop shipper of karate related equipment - with x,xxx/day even if you get 1% to convert and make 20$/sale - why its better than adsense ads anyway add this twist: make a quick script that will change keywords of your site at a certain time of day or certain day of the week :O - that would really get the google bot running wild but i like where you're headed
Because sites related to that keyword have major competition and you never get anywhere. By the time you get some traffic the trend ends and goes to something completely different. A lot of niches do not have a product to back it up. For example: an informational site about tigers. What try to sell a bunch of people a damn stuffed animal? lol
Actually my informational 'tiger' page (and most of the cats pages) gets ads for Tiger airlines and holidays. Which has nothing to do with my site. And yes, I have the low CTR to prove it
Erm, because there are 3000 pages on my site and most of them have ads as bad as the tiger airlines one? I'd be spending my entire life just blocking mis-targeted ads. I just thought it was funny Laceygirl used tiger as an example and I actually *have* a page on tigers lol
