Hm i cant belive u spend that much money on hosting Here in my country (Slovenia - in middle of europe) well 1gb no bw limit line coast 1.000€/month + for 4.000$ you can get best server So 1time 5.000€ and from then on just 1000 hehe if my image hosting website will be one day that big am sure i will order that line and run server from localhost
Im in the 3 digit club, hopefully, i can get 4 digit by mid next month.. then the long haul to 5 digits...
I was within arms-reach of the 5-digit club in December.. January was a bit lower.. I'm shooting for 5-digits by the end of '08.. But dayum, my net is way higher than yours because i only pay a few hundred/mo for my dedicated server.. Also, Adsense is only a part of those total earnings because i am well-diversified
Im just wondering the page depth that you all are at...just curious? LOL after knocking around here for a few weeks I am a bit nervous. reading lots of post about people haveing .5 days or earnings...I have had 2 days of zero...but the rest or at least 80% have been double digit earning.
I am still at the 3 digit range. Hope to reach that in 2 yrs time. Still working on it as I know if u put in lots of actions, it will work. Saw this 3 digit only after I started to work on it for the past 5 months. Hope to see u there in 2 yrs time
If you mean 5 digit club as in $10.000 Dollars, then yeah, I'm in (Yes, that is a decimal point in there)
Managing many servers at a time for just one or two website is really an art. Congrats buddy. Keep it up.
I have always wondered about how file hosting sites avoid getting taken down due to copyright violations? I hear webhosts are very touchy about that and tend to shoot first (or suspend first) and ask questions later.
*we take all TOS violations very seriously and we deal with all copyright violation reports within minutes which is more than what required under the DMCA, some sites like youtube.com really do drag their feet, we on other hand work with the content providers and are very polite to them *one of the sites that is online storage related [the other sites i have are completely unrelated, dont put all eggs in one basket ] is a bit larger (see attachement) than the bigger shared hosts out there so they can shoot all they want , i deal directly with the datacenters and collocate own equipment skipping all the middlemen and there is ALOT of money involved
So basically what your saying is that you are large enough to A) be able to afford hiring someone to deal with copyright issues 24/7 because otherwise how could you answer complaints within minutes and B) do your own hosting or spend large enough amounts that you become a very valuable customer. Any tips for those starting out and can't afford to "buy" special "consideration"? Surely you must have been small once . How did you deal with copyright issues back then when you couldn't spend so much?
Wow, I didn't realise companies big enough to have two sites in Alexa's top 1000 actually used Alexa ranking as a serious measurement tool! I learn something new every day... .
no need for sarcasm, for very large sites alexa is quite spot on for small sites its useless its just a matter of statistics and having enough data i provided nice graph comparing alexa trends against analytics here and they are very close http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3713029&postcount=43 what other web measurements you know of? comscore graphs and being featured on techcrunch? yep been there done that
I am moving toward the 6 digits. Pretty confident I hit the target by the summer Not with AdSense though. I believe that direct sales & affiliate programs are way better than AdSense
