It's funny how if you don't acknowledge the different cultural needs between groups of people you are intolerant but if you assume their needs automatically based on appearance or accent you are racist.

I defy anyone to tell me that they don't "judge a book by it's cover" and race is but one element in the process.

I hate to say it but you, sir, are a moron. Racists are not a race. You can't be racist against racism. It's not an ethnicity.

Anyway, there's a difference between passive racism, and active racism. I'm a passive racist. I don't like Koreans, but as long as they dont get in my way, they stay healthy and safe.

An active racist would be a member of the KKK, where they go out of their way to harm the said race.

Racism may be interpreted wrong here.

If you just say you don't like blacks for whatever fucked up reason, who cares? It's your opinion, if you say however, that blacks were a mistake and that they were made as slaves [racist speaking (not me hypothetically) ] is actually racist.

isn't that also one's "opinion"? How does it different from i hate black people because they are black? I don't see any different.

If you are the boss of company, will you reject a Korean, even he is more qualify then other candidate. When you deal with Korean, will you be extra careful? or choose not to buy from /sell to them at all? Are you still a passive if you do it? I don't think you need to kill someone to hurt him

I didn't say kill. I said 'intentional harm'. So if an overqualified Korean was rejected due to racism, because you intentionally did not hire him. You also might've lost business by not hiring the better qualified individual. This is harmful to you as well. Passive racism is never harmful to oneself.

EDIT: Oo, 2K posts. Cool. :p

Lol, no, that's a little too deep. Hatred can also make it pleasurable to see the hated fail, etc.

Racism is whatever form it is whether minority or not is wrong. Anyone who is a racist has the potential to become a minion of bloodshed.

If you mean judging them just by there skin collar or ethnic background, I would say I don't judge anyone that way. If you mean judging by the way they carry themselves or how they maintain their appearance than I may receive the signal that they are sending but I am not sure if that is judging. If they act like white trash, look like white trash, talk like white trash, drive a white trash car, and smell like white trash, I would assess that they are caucasion of lower socio-economic standing. Is that OK?

(BTW I am your typical middle aged white guy with two degrees and a blue collar attitude)

I'm not racist. Several people in my family are, and we get in arguments often. I don't judge people based on their skin color - at all. It's not necessary.

I would argue that people of different races have different strengths and weaknesses, various traits, behavioral patterns, physical appearance susceptibility to diseases and academic ability based on the particular race they belong to. My opinion of those who claim that the only distinction between races of people is skin colour, is that they are either ignorant or don't wish to upset anyone.

Now I didn't mention that any other race is better or worse, nor did I mention that I hate any other race based on these differences or even which race I, myself belong to. (which i'm not going to)

Racism is normal, and it is normal for races to separate themselves from different races, marry people from the same race etc. As the saying goes 'Birds of a feather, flock together' It's all natural, and perfectly innocent.

Racial hatred is a completely different matter, but it is also a product of nature, multi-racialism is really to blame, or at least the people who promote it and encourage it on a huge scale, it will never work and is bound to end badly.

Then you have the anti-racists who will give priority to someone based on their race, perhaps meaning to help them and in my opinion being very insulting.

Anti-racists are the most racially discriminatory of them all and in many instances discriminate against more able people of one race over less able people of another.

The problem is, people hear the word racist far too much, it brings up the vision of hate and violence, the word has been demonised, it could almost even be used as an insult. This is very handy for the really hateful people who can use it at any time to silence something or someone they do not like, or put a prompt end to any discussion regarding race.

I think i'm going on too much now, but you get the point, lol

Lets say I see a woman of, for example, Indian appearance wearing a sari and I have cause to speak to her. I'll approach her gently and speak clearly until I know if she is going to find my accent a problem. 9 times out of 10 that's appropriate. The other time she'll answer with a good old local twang. Most Indian women don't like rambunctious kiwi greetings, I've found. When I lived in Wembley, UK they wouldn't even sit on the bus next to you.

I was selling some things at the local market. If a local bought things they were likely to get a thank you and a big smile. If a Chinese person bought something they'd get a slight bow too. It was only halfway through the market that I realised I was doing it automatically.

It's hard to draw a line between cultural sensitivity and racism. I'd like to think that racial awareness can be a positive thing if it means you are sensitive to what that person may need in order to feel comfortable interacting with you.

I do not judge people by race. Racism is not for my taste. :)

It is informative that racists actively expose themselves.. I wonder how many members are actually racists at DP...

I don't beleive that people should be judged by their ethnic minorities or backgrounds or simply by the colour of their skin =D But may people around me are definitely racist people.
