I commonly hear "well, racism is still widespread" from people who imply they are not. Here's an example I saw as a comment on a story about a basketball player who was helped by a family of an other race: The commenter is a racist but I think he's in a small minority. I run into very few racists in So California. So what are you and what do you see around you?
I can honestly say I am. No shame in that. I dont like Koreans. It's mainly the Korean-induced population of our school. I have to step on about 4 of them, to get to my locker. They're tightly packed under the damn lockers. Pisses me off, so I end up breaking a finger or two. I'm not a nice person when it comes to the fact that I have to walk around someone to get to my personal locker. Ofcourse, I am Russian, so I get some Racism in m direction as well, but it's mostly stereotypical. Ever since the Simpsons invented, "In Russia, women have penis" joke, it hasnt been the same. I've sent Groening an anthrax letter.
So you are saying racism towards your country is wrong but racism towards Koreans is OK? Or did I get this whole thing wrong? By the way, I can't say I haven't said anything racist in my life, but I can safely say I don't discriminate by skin color or race.
I am a racist, I don't hate anyone, I just recognise that there are distinct differences between people of different races, all races are not the same, and therefor cannot be treated as such. Simple logic.
Vadym Vancouver is like China eh? I was at the airport and whoa! Chinese words and announcements No I'm not racist I don't base opinions on others because of their face
I think you are confused. That's not racism. You hate them because they are on you way, not because they are Korean. and this is bull crap http://www.tampabays10.com/news/national/article.aspx?storyid=58793
Racism will, unfortunately, continue for several more generation. It is up to us to stop the chain reaction. It doesn't matter what race, religion and et. al. We are all the same species. Let us teach our children to accept each other as an individual so they may pass this along to their children and their children's children.
As I said in a previous thread a few days ago we all have prejudices - that's a fact, however unpalettable it may be for some. I don't think racism is any more widespread now than it was in times gone by - the only difference nowadays is that people are more aware of racial discrimination and more likely to brand someone a racist, whether or not they actually are, because society says it's the 'trendy' thing to do. Gone are the days of being able to make a critical comment to anyone but the closest of friends of a different race of religion for fear they will misinterpret it. I try and judge people on their ability rather than their appearence, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't formed an impression of someone purely by the way they looked. Anyone who says differently is a liar, so I guess there's at least the potential for racism in all of us.
It depends on what you mean by racism. If I hate the immigrants who rob, kill, rape and commit other crimes, I do not call myself a racist!
