Everyones like "it's so worth it" - " its the best thing since baked bakin" Whats really sooo cool about it?
Well, it is really great for networking with people and marketing in some way as after you have built up the relationship, people will follow the links that you have posted.
it's garbage for direct marketing and has little seo value because they use nofollow on the links. It is handy if you yourself are the brand that you wish to sell. You can build a following with it, and try to network through it. In the past it was easy to get subscribers, but now it's a little more difficult - people join and quit all the time. It gets really annoying. There is little value in it for marketing purposes besides for networking.
I've only just started on twitter - so this is the observations of a tyro. I think the value of it is in building up relationships - ALL social networking marketing should be about that - not about spamming and backlinks. It's about increasing visibility, communcation - talking and LISTENING. If you've got something to sell , listening to what people have to say about your niche is hugely important.
It doesn't work too good for me. I have a few followers but still it's like one click from time to time in my advertising there.
