Software-wise. I'm using PHPLD3 right now .. and to say its just a little above average. What would you say would be the best way to manage a link directory with software? Maybe even deviant ways not using directory-specific software (I've seen directories made with blogs, etc.) Anyway, what do you think? I want to open another directory but don't want to use PHPLD.
You don't want to use phpld? I think you need to maybe focus on php skills and use the phpld as a base. Kinda like an oscommerce skeleton for a shopping cart website. Deviant? Like rss feeds for content? Sure but I 'm not following where you're going with the "deviant" thing. You get free content with a free directory anyways.
I don't really like Joomla itself as a CMS : ) I'm verrrry picky about what scripts I use for my websites and I am learning php, but not enough to do what I really want. PHPLD is a nice script don't get me wrong but I believe there are better options available somewhere, and I'm trying to find them.
I'll await your 'plug' for your new script when you are ready to fill in the blanks. This post contradicts itself and makes no sense. 'hi, i don't know how to run a directory' 'hi, even though i dont know how to run a directory and have no idea what i'm talkign about, this script is so/so' 'hi, what could be better' 'hi, i found something better; my script yay!' too funny btw, my Location is true.
The best way to run a directory is not a link script itself. It's how to make your directory unique and good quality sites inside.
You have plenty of options if PHPLD doesn't fit your needs. There are $600+ scripts out there that have less options than PHPLD. Or, you could go custom which would be over $2000, but hey, it's only money. It's personal choice on scripts and hard work with the rest.
When did I say I don't know how to run a directory.. right now I manage several directories that are run on PHPLD .. I'm just looking for alternatives. Go troll somewhere else, kid. Antonio: Point observed, but you still need software. : ) As for Site Sift .. I believe PHPLD is much better functionality and seo wise.
I like PHPLD because it has a free version and theres tons of great skins that are easily modified. I can see why some would not like it though it can be limiting especially when you have to approve/dissaprove alot of sites.
1. you're asking whats the best way to manage a link directory, and yet, you say you manage several of them? The hypocrisy between your thread title and what you're saying is comedy gold. 2. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=263664 - yea, you're a sure shot winner alright. Plan on doing the same when you shut down your directory because your mommy cut your lunch money funds? 3. Mesothelioma Victims... trying to capitalize on the ol' mesothelioma So slow you roll and think about what you type before pressing submit, because you're posts are contradictive. Now run along and go play some more WoW, kid.
Yes, I manage several of them. All on PHPLD. Which is why I want to expand my knowledge by trying out a new software. And I'm glad you get a kick out of my routine, it's all mad libbed. Stay out of my thread unless you're going to contribute something useful, like the name of a directory software, or your bosom size. Unless you want to argue, because I've got eons, friend.
