We tend to shy away from banners when payment is CPA, but have them on older sites... Was wondering which set-up you thought would be more profitable: 468x60 banner next to 120x60 banner or just one 728x90. Most CPM advertisers prefer 728x90 as it's great for branding, but that doesn't matter to a publisher who is only getting paid CPA. Advantage of 468x60 banner next to 120x60 banner is that there's two different links the surfer notices/visits. But then 728x90 is more in-your-face. Which set-up would be better do you reckon?
I would say it depends on the banner itself, and the site its going in. People are getting very good at ignoring advertising, especially huge flashing spinning banners. Sometimes the more in-your-face banners are, the more they get ignored. So, to answer the question, I think any could be equally good, given the design of the banner, and the location, and design of the site its going into.
I agree, I hardly every click on big flashy banners, most of the ads I click on are adsense ads, because generally they tell me what type of site I am going to be heading to. As far as size goes, I really don't take into account what size they are. Though from a site designer point of view, I would have to say to choose a banner size that fills in empty space in a nice cosmetic way.
