    To the OP

Install the Google Toolbar in your browsers.

    Then visit yahoo.com

See the full green bar in the Google toolbar?

This indicates an export of the PageRank 10

Now step away from the keyboard....

    And think!!!! before posting ....

I hate repeating myself but what the heck...

    And think!!!! before posting ....

Yes, I already thought about this one. Though, a way without using the SERPs would be better. But the SERPs can be used in order to proove the correctness of the PR alternative.

The main problem is - a spider is needed in order to collect all links. It would be quick enough if all web pages which are cached by google are visited once a month. But I think it is still a lot of bandwidth to crawl the www in one month... I'd like to calculate how much bandwidth is need.

    Assuming:
    1) there are 100 million websites out there
    2) each websites has an average of 100 pages
=> 10 billion pages need to be crawled each month

Assuming each page has a size of 10kb
    => 100 billion kb needed = 100 GB

100 GB a month sound not too much...

    Are these assumptions realistic?

Well, I am thinking - thinking about a way to calculate something which assigns a value to a web page in order to detemrine the value of a link on that page - something similar to the PR.

    So what's the problem?

Here is the problem. Your thread title in which you wrongly proclaim the is no more PageRan.

Now you have mislead quite a few people who are actually thanking you for misleading them.

But for kicks besides the above error lets look at your question with some common sense....

You're trying to calculate a score for a third party with something not built by the the third party....

Now you want to invent some new algorithm to determine some new PR

    lets call it

    Katulago Rank

Now if we were to rank pages based on Katulago Rank.....

What good would it do when trying to place pages on the Google search engine results?

    None!

    Its like we grade students with A B C D E and you now want to grade them with Z Y X W V

This answer any of your questions?

Okay I'll probably get banged for double posting but to prove you know even less.... if that's possible.

Yahoo was a PR 9 up till the last PR Update.(before the one just completed).

    Next

It's 2007....what happened in 2003 in regards to search is like looking at telephones now and when invented by Alexander G. Bell

    No correlation.

    Live for the now...

    the past is over

Ok, I did not know that Yahoo was PR10, then PR9 and then PR10 again... this is one good example so I might be wrong and Google will export the PR for other pages as well.

Ok, sorry for the misleasing thread title - it should be "imagine if the PR is no more...".

Well, actually I am just thinking about an alternative to the Google PR - in case they will export the PR it's of no use. But if they stop the visible PR some day it would be good for webmasters to have an alternative.

Additionally, it would be nice to have something more precide in case of link value, for example something like "Katulago Rank for Niche XY".

For this I just would like to know if my assumptions mentioned before make sense or if I am totally wrong.

We are talking about Google purging an entire industry that will effect millions of peoples livelyhood. I think more evidence is needed before even speculating about this. It's not even a record yet.

Well, Google does not care when they ban sites from the SERPs (not talking about spamming sites) - this makes people loose their jobs as well.

It's not a market for Google so I think they don't really care when SEO work gets harder... nothing else will change when they hide the PR.

Can't argue with that :) Way too many place too much importance on Page Rank.
