I don't know what's going to happen exactly, but I'm for sure interested!!! Why can't they just hurry it all up?!?! This PR update is taking forever.
what makes google better than the otther search engines mainly because of their PR thing, if they removed it then let's just use live instead.
For some and some have lost a lot of money buying what they cant sell. Wonder how they feel? Just silly or flaming mad. Whatever Google does now their market has changed and one hopes lessons learnt. Fat chance!
What makes google better? Brand! 99 percent of users don't care about PR and they will keep using google because they are used to it. I think the MSN results are as good as Google's SERPs, but MSN has not the same reputation...
I've come to like your antagonistic posts you have been spreading around lately (like that authority links crap over in the directories section). And again, well put ... your stance on this is right on. People who "bought" PR now have a bunch of stock that they cannot cash in, hell they don't even know what it is worth. While this makes me giddy inside, I can't help but think someone, somewhere will sue google for closing up shop on something they whole heartedly bought into. My opinion: Tough shit guys, learn more make better sites and never put all your eggs in one basket. I LOVE the idea that google is tipping the scales more to knowledge & experience than money.
I have never really got on with Google. Mainly because they ignore me. I cant ever seem to get my directories to more than PR2. But I think they have made a policy decision on this one that goes back to their roots. For this they deserve full credit. It turns my stomach to see the antics that the few that have so many faces, are getting up to. It also makes me insanely jealous to see how much they are charging and the fact they are getting away with it. Maybe some good will come of it but its the drones that are taking the heat. The guys that can least afford it. The players have already moved on. That much is easy enough to see.
I'm glad that PR is dropped by Google . Website should be judged by its traffic. And kudos, I never care about PR before, when I buy link, I look at the quality of the site and the traffic.
Traffic isn't a good metric for webmasters... webmasters are interested in SERP effects of backlinks.
Really I dont know if this information is true or not, we need to wait as I said I have saw changes in one of my sites grey bar to green bar If Google take out the PR metric, we need to back to see the Traffic of the site. I hope this is the most important... Jakomo
But if we dont clean up or act and smartly, we are going to foul that nest too. Is it not time to get real and cut the QBC lose?
Its no so much the tool thats at fault, its they way these tools are used. What sort of advice are web masters getting on these sort of forums? Who is driving? Where are we going? Right now its a road to nowhere.
Traffic is not a good metric - because we do not have good traffic values at all (Alexa is not really accurate) - becuase it can be manipulated easily - because it is not available for single pages at all - because traffic has no relationship to the relevance of a link for the SERPs
Webmasters need a value because: 1. they want traffic 2. traffic comes through Google's SERPs 3. they are ranked well in SERPs if they have lots of good links 4. so the question is: what is a good link for Google's Algorithm? 5. a good starting point is the PR of the site linking to them (currently PR is the only measurement for single pages)
Common sense is a whole lot more reliable. If its traffic a webmaster wants all they have to do is search on the keywords they want and see who pops up. PR has been all but totally discredited. It has little or no influence on serp's and PR is not a measure of back links. High PR back links yes but this may be just one single solitary paid for link. So how is that a measure of the strength of the back links a high PR site has? Back links work, no question about it, but would you trust a site which has more than its fair share. Some directory masters are just too sharp for their own good.
