Hi guys, I spoke to a Paypal rep, and this is what he told me: 1) As of now, they (the Paypal customer service reps) only have information that they will be reversing payment done in February only. In other words, as of now, Paypal has told its reps that they will only be reversing payments for Feb. 2) Only payments under “goods†will not be reversed. “Services†WILL be reversed. 3) If you are in India, he has suggested, please use alternate payment methods (he actually smirked when he said this, so I think Paypal is expecting a backlash and is ready for it). In other words, please do not expect a refund or status quo. 4) I asked him if Paypal will pull money out of my bank account to recoup the negative balance on Paypal. He said he didn’t know. So this is a big grey area. 5) On most other questions, his response was : “I don’t knowâ€. This leads me to believe that this was a sudden and reactive decision at Paypal. They themselves do not have a clear policy regarding this situation. However, given their size and legal and financial muscle, they know that they can get away with it. My thoughts on this: 1) Assess your damage, and try to limit it by connecting with your clients asap 2) Do not expect Paypal to refund your money. 3) Go for a different provider in the asap since Paypal has shown exemplary unprofessionalism and neglect towards its customers. I would say, since 2 weeks paypal is earning large amount of revenue by deducting funds as their fees.
I don't get it! I have a lot of money in my PayPal account! Are you telling me that I might lose it?! How can they do that?! Or will I be able to withdraw money which I received before February? Will appreciate if you can clarify your post. Thanks.
Quite surprised at your point no.3 as I dont think a paypal employee will advise you to stop using paypal. Are you sure you called up the paypal customer service and not some other company.
Almost all their emails advise Indians to use alternate payment methods to send/receive personal payments.
Just Got reversal of payments received on Feb 1,2,3,4,5. Was frustrated with non-receipt of funds in my bank account, now it seems more frustrating with this new PayPal problem. Hope, we are spared the horrors. It may just be some 200 - 300 USD for a PayPal, but its our month's income in India. I really couldnt understand why services will get reversed. And if that is the case, there is a possibility that Goods may get reversed too. I have 11 transaction reversed from 11 diff clients. And if they don pay me, how can i even complain. They already did the payment the first time. Yes, the money has gone back, but not their fault. I don know what kind of explanation PayPal has, but freelancers are going to get hammered with that. All my transactions from Feb-1st is being reversed. It does not happen all at once. It is happening over the last 24 hrs for me. I wonder why Paypal did not send an email to users alerting this new change of policy. They do remember to send emails about Surveys and Mothers day reminders etc. Can anybody confirm payments made to Paypal invoices are not reversed?
Even My Payments have been reversed yesterday....I hope it gets solved by this coming week..Right now its best to wait & watch How Deep The Rabbit Hole Goes....
Just today morning 65$ got reversed. Bank withdrawl of about 274$ missing (not in bank, not in paypal)... I am gonna kill Paypal. >_< How can you say that? I just can't let them take 12k just like nothing..
So what could you do, we cannot do anything we can just sit and watch. Even if we could take legal actions what would be the outcome (We certainly know that)
I got reversed more money. so now i use my premium account, where theser is no reversal. but i tried to withdraw my money for $670, after 2 days i was expected they transfer to my HDFC bank account, even paypal says process completed. unfortunetely in few miuntes when i login again it says reversed. so we can not even withdraw the money? please advise me to do next?
