Seems the OS has been troubling you. Re installation can fix the problem..Try installing your OS again..

If your computer consistently crashes under heavy load, it's most likely a heat issue (as you said). Of course, if your version of Vista is not genuine and/or you have been infected by some type of malware, similar symptoms would result. I would not recommend reinstalling the OS just yet, you might consider getting a laptop cooling pad. Also check to make sure your laptop's fans are not clogged with dust/dirt or being obstructed during use. Also, run a FULL system scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-malware just to make sure you dont have a bunch of nasties on there.

Well most of the time my cpu in task manager shows as 100% used ... it just stays there at 100 and in few seconds shuts down.. i did try the cooling pad too doesnt work that well..

and i am on orignal vista...and have scanned for virus, malware, spyware nothing that dangerous was found

If the fan in your laptop works fine then I think your shouldn't have the heating problem. Just reinstalling the OS will do the job. There are viruses who restart the system after random intervals so my suggestion would be just reinstall the OS.

Its not a virus coz normally its happens only if i doo too many tasks at a time.. but when the heat increases in the room mostly the laptop just shuts

you can try removing the DVD/CD drive from your laptop and if possible other covers like cover on memory and hard drive. This will help pass the fresh air and cool it down. Is the fan working??

I would recommend backing up your data and reinstalling your OS as well as replacing the fan that you hear with a new one.

Sometimes a working fan isn't always working right. You may also want to check in the BIOS to see if there are any fan speed settings that can be tweaked - I used to have a laptop that had such settings.

If you are having heating issues, use compressed air and blow the laptop out. Dust will seriously overheat your system.
If you are under 100% load all the time though, your computer is doing something wrong.
But I would never buy a laptop cooling pad unless totally necessary, they are not worth the money in my experience. I have had success with just blowing them out.

Dust is always a big problem in India... particularly if you use your equipment out in the open!

A simple clean up too at times solve such over heating problem. Do give it a try! :)

Maybe buy a Laptop Cooling pad they are around $20-$25 it has built in fans, and comes with a usb cord that plugs into your usb port.

That was happening with my Dell laptop. (It also had a virus though) A Dell support tech came out to the house and re-installed the OS and replaced the heating board and now it works fine

If you are going to use a heating pad, look up reviews and find the best rated one. You could also open it up and clean it out that way. Any cleaning will definitely help.

I think there might be any product defective in your laptop, if you have warranty you can contact your HP laptop service center.

If you want to avoid any costs to do troubleshooting I would definitely test the RAM in your laptop. Faulty RAM is known to automatically reboot/shutdown computers. Try with memtest86, it's free of course and will allow you to rule out the RAM as a root cause.
