So much work to get this website up. Now how do I go and make some money.

    Hey.
I have finally put up a website which I have been working for sometime now. You can have a look at it http://ixibot.com. I have currently put my google adsense because I have tried this earlier on a page on an old website which really worked for me.
I want to dedicate my complete php development, web design, flash animation skills. My aim is to get all the data from the internet and structure it.
I initially started writing the core code myself using php because I did not want to compromise on the security and usability of it. After a lot of researching and trying out different frameworks finally came across Drupal.
When I looked into drupal i saw that it was very similar in logic to the framework i was building but the advantage of having a community with you that will help you build modules... wow!!!
Now this is what I have, but I want to keep working on it making it better and better. And let it have more and more applications for end users to use.
I want to keep this free for users.
    Please share your positive ideas.
    Thanks.

Man, i don't even know what's your site about/for. Your website takes quite some time to load. Then it looks too empty.
Maybe i didn't grasp the concept at all but a website should be self-explaining. You should think about this before even thinking about making money.

what is the site meant to do?
I click on the link on the home page, and its just blank:
    http://ixibot.com/content/does-anyone-here-know-elegant-boutique-hotel-boracay
and here is one at random from the side menu:
    http://ixibot.com/categories/aviation

or are people meant to come along and just write the answers or something?

"I want to dedicate my complete php development, web design, flash animation skills." To me, it looks like a normal wordpress / drupral template. I didnt see any flash or anything. Even the site logo is disappointing.

For what you have now, I do not mean to be harsh, and I do apologize if this is harsh, but I cannot see how you can make money with that site. It may be better to find something else. If you are passionate about sharing articles and kinda just blogging, then you would need quality, well written content. Then you can earn from advertising.
If your plan is to build an article directory script (or something similar), do not expect to earn anything.

Thanks for reviewing the website folks. I tried clicking on the links again, they work. As I said earlier in my post, I finally gave in to development using drupal because it looked better than writing my own script. I do not want it to be an article directory, my intention is to showcase information about everything in the world and links between each other. Here users can ask questions and comment for now. I am also looking to include relevant apps for each topic. I mean if you go to the track page, an app wll be installed there which will let people know the key used etc. The app will have functionalities that the visitor might be looking out for. About the loading speed, it loads all ok here, can someone guide me please?

I'll be blunt. Your website is horrible. Noone can figure out what it is about. Therefor noone is going to join or contribute. You won't make any money with this site. If you have to explain what a web site is about then it's NOT made well.

In addition to being absolutely pointless, it's SLOW. Painfully slow. The layout is also plain and empty. Start over.

:( Looks like I have done something very wrong, if i am unable to explain what the website is all about. Can someone please guide me how I can go about this. I understand i used the default template, but I was more like "lets take a few suggestions from people about it so that I can sort some money out). I want to finish off the whole structure before I change the theme. Please have a look now, I have made a few changes.
The outcome I want out of the website is a platform which will allow users to as questions related to the topics which have been fed into it. These topics are also connected to each other by relevance. As soon as an user answers a question the best answer will be choosen automatically by the website depending on how closely related the user is to that particular topic and the question being asked. For example: a topic called "Bass Guitar" located at http://ixibot.com/content/bass-guitar has information for "Digital Cameras" including a gallery of pictures which can also be reached directly from http://ixibot.com/content/bass-guitar-gallery-pictures , you can also have a look at the questions below. One questions would be http://ixibot.com/content/how-take-bass-guitar-machine-heads . I hope I put accross, whats on my mind. I expected to see responses where I would get some ideas on how to go about it instead of having to be told to start from scratch and that it is no good etc. It could be that I am unable to put accross what exactly I have in min, but yes i will work on it to make it worth for the users. Please help me out instead of passing condescending me.

Must have been an error from the server or something. Please have a look again. There are sub-categories under aviation... Have a look at http://ixibot.com/categories/airport/serves

Seems you'll need to work hard again to polish your dream site. Just don't make more complicated things which the results are not converting.

These words sound more encouraging, thanks. Please have a look now. I want to basically sort out the structure of the website before I get into the theme changes. Made the search bar little bigger and added suggestions of what you can search for. As far as the speed is concerned. I am still trying to figure this out with the Web Hosting and Drupal Community. I am infact a freelance web developer and Since this is my personal website I hardly used to get much time to work on it, now I decided that I will not take too many projects and dedicate half of my work time to work on this. Thanks again for your positive approach.

Facebook, first of all, don't worry. Everyone has to start somewhere and you already have some great recommendations/changes to work on regarding your site. Some important stuff regarding the home page:

    1) Who we are
    2) What we do
    3) Positive results/testimonials

These 3 have to be on your home page. Make sure that they're there and that they aren't too long (you don't want a 1000 word article on 'what we do').

In case you need some motivation, I suggest you watch this video:

Good luck and keep up the good work!

From my understanding you are trying to be some kind of search engine ? I'm a little confused, what exactly are you trying to sell?

An idea is to make a mobile app version for people to use and sell it through app stores for a price, be aware there are already many free services.

    Best of luck

Facebook, Alexa ranking is not the only factor for visitors. There are so many other things like quality and interactive content, eye-catching design, easy navigation, error free programming etc. essential for making a money-generating website. This type of website can only attract visitors and convert them into business people.

My thoughts exactly! By all the explanations this is what I'm getting. OP should definitely check it for more ideas.

OP, keep in mind for the Alexa Rank, that especially for new websites, it can rise pretty quickly, as its just a reflection of the people WITH Alexa Toolbar installed that refresh your website. So leave it in the background when trying to measure your growth. I would have to go with the other guys here and advice you to first work hard on the website itself, its visual outlook, functionality and load speed and from there continue with building the quality content for it. :)

I think what you neede to start with is a brand new design. At the minute when your website loads up is a blank white page with a blue header and orange text. Your website needs to be visually appealing to me for me to even remain on your website long enough for me to figure out what it is. I would say that it takes about 5 - 6 seconds for a person to gain an impression on your website - so in those 5 or 6 seconds you need to have something that will pull them in.

Take for example Yahoo Answers (i'm basing this on what I believe your trying to achieve):

Although Yahoo Answers is an extremely simple design - it is user friendly and very structured. It feels professional and from looking right at the top where it says 'Ask a Question' you immediately understand what the website is (even though it is called Yahoo Answers).

You also need to be able to offer something different or work in a different manner to Yahoo Answers as that would be a mighty competitor in the market your looking at getting in to. So what will your website offer differently to YA that will persuade me that your website is the one I should use and return to?

Talking about an 'App', I would most definitely look at ensuring your main website is complete first.

How much traffic do you have coming to your site? I strongly recommend holding off monetization until you have a healthy stream of traffic coming in

There is no such thing as placing ads prematurely. Though your traffic may be low why miss out on the opportunity? You will not see any change in traffic by not having ads.

However, overloading the website with ads won't encourage returning visitors.

Of course. So will posting pictures of child porn. However, we aren't talking about that. We are talking about monetizing in general.
